Police: Street racer accused in deadly hit-and-run in Philadelphia arrested in NJ
Philadelphia police say that the driver accused of fatally striking a pedestrian while racing another car has been arrested in Camden County.
The crash happened just after midnight on Tuesday near Castor and Aramingo avenues in Philadelphia. Police say the 19-year-old driver was driving a 2020 Dodge Charger and was street racing when he allegedly struck a pedestrian.
Officials say the driver sped off over the Betsy Ross Bridge and was eventually arrested in Pennsauken.
Police say that a 16-year-old was also in the car at the time of the crash. They say the teen injured his right hand and forearm. He was taken to St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital for treatment and released to his parents.
The name of the 19-year-old driver was not released. Charges against him are pending.
Philadelphia police did not release any information about the pedestrian who was killed, other than stating he was a white male.
