Police say a sting helped investigators recover $10,000 worth of stolen electronic merchandise from a store with locations in Bayonne and Union City.
According to police, "On the Avenue" stores sold stolen MP3 players, GPS systems, digital cameras, DVDs and even jewelry. Undercover investigators pretending to sell stolen goods to the store say "On the Avenue" took the bait, often stocking the shelves and re-selling the items within hours.
Police have arrested the store's owner, Raul Ruiz, of Jersey City, and an employee, Shawn Tamayo, of Rutherford.
Officers are now trying to return some of the stolen GPS systems to their owners. They're pressing the "home" buttons on some of the units to find addresses.
