While many spent the day celebrating Easter Sunday, Newark police looked for the vandals who covered election posters with hateful graffiti Thursday evening.
Officials say the vandals painted a blue swastika over the face of at-large Councilman Luis Quintana.  A picture of North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr.’s photo was also defaced.
The incident took place on the 400 block of Broadway in the North Ward, right down the block from Quintana’s office.
“We do have some evidence, so I pray that the police capture this person and bring him to justice,” said Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.

An image of a person believed to be connected to the incident was released.  Mayor Baraka told News 12 that it’s a matter of time before the vandals are off the streets.
Anyone with information is asked to call to call Newark police.
