Authorities in Summit are seeking a man caught on camera striking a gas station attendant on the head with a wrench and then stealing from a cash register.
Summit police said the incident happened Sunday just before 11 p.m. at the Shell gas station on River Road.
Surveillance video shows a man, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, green gloves and a dark bandana over his face, approach an attendant on foot and demand cash from the register.
As the attendant turns to open the register, the man twice strikes the attendant in the back of the head with a large wrench and then removes the cash.
Police said the man fled the scene on foot, running northeast on River Road. He is described as a white man who is about 5 foot 10 inches tall with a medium build.
K9 unites searched the area, but failed to locate him, authorities said.
The attendant was taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment of a laceration on his forehead.
