Law enforcement officials say that reports of attempted kidnappings and human trafficking issues in Monmouth and Ocean counties do not seem to be true.
Various News 12 New Jersey viewers have reached out to the station seeking information about reports circulating on social media of these attempted abductions that have happened in such places as Freehold, Middletown, Brick and Great Adventure.
The accounts tell of situations where a man approaches a mother and her children to distract her, while a woman attempts to take the children.
Freehold police tell News 12 New Jersey that there are no reports of human trafficking taking place at the Freehold Raceway mall or attempting kidnappings.
Police say that they do want to remind the public to call 911 immediately if they see anything that seems unsafe or suspicious.
