Police release surveillance video of Manville tire slashing suspect
Police have released surveillance video of the man they say is responsible for slashing tires on more than 70 cars in Manville.
The incident occurred on Green Street between 10th and 13th avenues either late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
This is the second time in approximately six weeks that this has happened. Back in June, about 40 vehicles had their tires slashed as well, and one car was set on fire, officials say.
Police are using the video from June in hopes of identifying the suspect.
"We have had a few tips and we've followed those up," says Lt. John Crater, of the Manville police department. "They haven't proved fruitful up to this point."
Frank Cascia has been a victim of the tire slashing twice. His brand new tires are ruined, and he says there seems to be no rhyme or reason to who is targeted.
"He's not…picking certain people, he's just stabbing tires," says Cascia. "Some cars are on the inside. Some cars are on the curbside. It's just weird."
Cascia has given police all the surveillance images he has captured.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $500 reward for anyone who has information on the tire slashings.
