The Clifton Police Department has released police body camera video showing the aftermath of a car crash involving a deer.
The crash happened last month. Police say the deer jumped from the Route 3 Overpass and smashed through the windshield of a vehicle driving southbound on Route 21.
Police say the Emerson driver was in total shock and lost control of his car. Police say he made a sudden sharp left turn and collided into the center median followed by another car crashing into him.
The Emerson driver suffered minor injuries. The second driver was not hurt.
And with it being deer rutting season, police have issued some tips to keep drivers safe.
  • Slow down if a deer is spotted on or near the roadway.
  • Watch for “Deer Crossing” signs.
  • Use high beams at night as they can help reflect off deer’s eyes.
  • Do not serve to avoid hitting a deer, you might hit something else.
