Jersey City police and firefighters responded to an abandoned building after reports of a possible explosion Sunday.
Neighbors reported hearing a blast-like noise at the building at Monitor and Johnson streets and seeing three men run from the building.
As a precaution, police searched the building for explosives.
"It sounded like a firecracker, like an M-80 and then you heard like a crackling noise," said witness Shawn Potter.
No word if police have arrested any suspects.
