A pedestrian was fatally struck after witnesses say they tripped and stumbled into oncoming traffic Saturday in Howell, according to police.

It happened around 8 p.m. as the person was walking south at the intersection of Strickland Road on Route 9.

Police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation and no charges have been filed.
