Authorities say a woman was shot multiple times early Sunday morning. 

The Passaic County Prosecutor Office says Paterson police were notified around 4:13 a.m. that a 42-year-old female resident was being treated for multiple non-fatal gunshot wounds at St. Joseph's University Medical Center. 

Based on the initial investigation, the victim was around Summer and Montgomery streets in Paterson when she was shot.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
