Authorities are looking for a dark Toyota or Nissan they believe was involved in a fatal Lakewood hit-and-run Monday.
Police say the vehicle is either dark or black and likely has damage to the windshield and front end.
Shalom Werther, 17, was struck and killed near the intersection of Cedar Bridge and Melville avenues. Werther apparently put his life on the line to save his 13-year-old brother from being hit.
Police Chief Robert Lawson says the crash happened after dark and Werther may have been hard to see due to black clothing, but the driver was still legally required to stop.Anyone with information is asked to contact Lakewood police.
