Police say an off-duty New Jersey state trooper is being credited with disarming a man with a large knife in a Dunkin' parking lot in Freehold Township.
According to police, Detective Sgt. Michael Nelson heard two men arguing last Friday behind his car.
Police say one man pulled out a large knife and threatened the other man. That's when Nelson sprang into action.
He identified himself as a trooper and told the suspect to drop the knife. But the man refused and got into a car. Nelson pulled him back out and was able to take the knife away from him.
