Pohatcong police say that there is no evidence of a bear attack in town Wednesday, despite claims by a resident.
The resident claimed that he encountered a bear Wednesday morning when he went out onto his porch to feed his cats. He said that the bear swatted at him and cut his arm.
The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for lacerations, but after a complete investigation, police say that the injuries "were not caused by result of a bear encounter."
Officials did not say how the man was hurt. He still maintains that he was attacked by a bear.
