A Linden public works employee is facing charges after police say he drove drunk, crashed into another city vehicle and then tried to cover it up.
Eduardo Torres, 60, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to report an accident to police and leaving the scene of an accident following Monday's incident.
Lt. Chris Guenther says Torres rammed his DPW pickup into a city-owned Ford Crown Victoria parked next to the Linden Public Works Complex.
Torres allegedly tried to fix the damage at first but later gave up. A supervisor who discovered the damage notified police.
Councilwoman Rhashonna Cosby-Hurling says the city is aware of the arrest.
Attempts to reach Torres for comment were unsuccessful.
