Police issued a warrant Friday for Rolando Terrell for his alleged involvement in a quadruple homicide and arson in Irvington Monday.
Essex County sheriffs say Terrell, who also is known as "Rat Man," is someone of interest in the deaths of the four victims.
Authorities responded to a call at 172 Columbia Ave. on Monday and found the house on fire. They then discovered the four victims - all shot and killed - and say the killer set the fire in order to cover up the crime.
Terrell, a suspected gang member, has prior arrests for charges related to drugs, weapons and robbery. Authorities say Terrell may have known the oldest victim, 40-year-old Candes McClean. The other three victims were Latrisha Carruthers, 13, Talia McClean, 18, and Zakiyyah Jones, 18.
Police suspect Terrell didn't act alone in the crime, but will concentrate on catching their main suspect. Authorities have also raised the reward to $15,000 for any information leading to Terrell's arrest. Essex County Sheriff Fontoura Armando made a plea to gang members in particular.
"This individual, who took out a 13-year-old, may take out your mother, your sister or anyone else in your family," he said.
Terrell, a 36-year-old black male, weighs 240 pounds and last was seen driving a red 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with New Jersey license plate YDM45R. The Jeep has gold rims. Police consider him armed and dangerous, and say anyone who sees him should call 911 and stay away from him.
