A home break-in was caught on camera when the homeowner was woken up by the noise, according to Howell Township police.

It happened on Ethan Drive around 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 29. When the homeowner went to check the noise out, police say he ran into a burglar in his kitchen going through the drawers.

The video shows the suspect running away when being confronted. Police say the burglar ran through the garage and into a vehicle that was parked in front of the residence.

Police say another home in the same neighborhood on Susan Court was broken into on the same day around the same time. They say forced entry was made through a living room window, and the burglar ran from the home when the homeowners woke up.

Police say they believe the suspect was searching for keys to high-end vehicles in both incidents.

Howell police are investigating both incidents and ask anyone who has additional surveillance footage to contact the Howell Police Detective Bureau at 732-938-4111.
