One person sustained minor injuries when an SUV crashed into a restaurant on Boonton Avenue in Boonton.

The crash happened on Friday. Police say that the driver of the SUV was not hurt. One person inside the restaurant was slightly injured.

The front of the restaurant was significantly damaged in the crash.

“It was raining and light snow, so it was a little slippery,” says Boonton Fire Chief David Kaplan. “But he was doing a pretty good clip, probably 35-40 mph.”

The speed limit on the roadway is 25 mph. Kaplan says that the driver probably did not brake properly.
