In a town where armed robberies are rare, two occurred Thursday night in Nutley.
Police say the first incident took place at Carole?s Sweet Shoppe. Security cameras were rolling when a man wearing a ski mask jumped behind the counter and made off with $350. The worker inside the shop says he was closing up when the man, who was armed with a knife, came in.
Three hours after the candy shop robbery, police say a gas attendant at the Mobil station on Centre and Washington streets was pistol whipped. According to police, the attendant was pumping gas into a dark sedan when one of the two men inside got out and attacked him. Security cameras caught this incident on tape as well.
Police say there is no connection between the two incidents. They are now looking at the videos and hoping to enhance the grainy images to catch the robbers.
