Police say a threat of violence this morning at Hackettstown High School was a hoax.
According to authorities, a man called police earlier and said he was in the woods near the high school with an assault rifle. School officials say they were notified about the threat at around 9 a.m.
Hackettstown public schools and nearby Centenary College were put under lockdown as a result. The lockdown has since been lifted.
Police determined that students and the schools were safe using helicopters and K-9 units to search the area. An investigation of the incident is ongoing.
