A 16-year-old girl who was reported missing over the weekend was found dead Saturday in Bridgewater, police said.
Investigators launched a search in the wooded area near Chimney Rock Park over the weekend.
Officials said the victim disappeared sometime around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Bridgewater police said their investigation so far has not yielded anything suspicious regarding the girl’s manner of death. Authorities added that there is no threat to the community, and the investigation is continuing.
Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Superintendent Russell Lazovick released a statement confirming the teenager’s death. He said guidance counselors would be made available to students at each of the district’s schools.
