Two contractors are facing charges of theft by deception after police say they scammed a Bloomfield woman out of over $125,000.

The woman told police she paid $3,800 in advance for Anthony Doherty and Patrick O'Doherty to repair concrete steps. After beginning the project over a month ago, she says they started adding on unneeded repairs. Then she alleges they would collect money for the repairs without fixing anything.

The woman contacted police on Wednesday to report that Doherty and O'Doherty returned. Both of them were then arrested.
