New Jersey State Police say a bus flipped onto its side on the New Jersey Turnpike amid icy conditions Tuesday afternoon, leading to some injuries.
The crash happened Tuesday afternoon on the entrance ramp from the toll plaza near the northbound track lanes of Interchange 11.
Police say that 18 to 20 people were injured, but that none of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening. Lt. Ted Schafer says all passengers were removed from the bus after the crash around 4 p.m., but that it was not clear how many people were on board.
Schafer says that the accident involved an Alliance Transport bus based out of New Brunswick and was reported on the northbound side of the highway.
It wasn't clear if other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The roadway reopened at 5:15 p.m.
Rain combined with cold temperatures created slick and icy roads around the state.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
