A boy is facing charges over accusations of setting a wildfire that burned 52 acres of land in Evesham Township, along the Berlin Township border, according to the police.
Evesham police say the Oct. 30 fire burned for several days amid New Jersey’s driest October on record.
After the fire was extinguished, officials say they determined that it was intentionally set. They say investigators were able to identify the boy as the suspect.
The juvenile, who was not identified due to his age, was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with aggravated arson and causing or risking widespread injury or damage. He is being held at the Middlesex Juvenile Detention Center.
Officials are also investigating if a Nov. 7 fire also in Evesham is connected to the Oct. 30 fire. Officials say that this fire consumed 375 acres of land.
No injuries were reported in either fire.
