Police: Aging infrastructure to blame for fallen utility poles in Wall Township

“Our findings indicate that a pole on East Hurley Pond Road failed on its own, which then caused a second pole to snap and drop the lines onto the highway,” police wrote in a statement.
They say that the poles appeared to be old and could no longer support the weight of the overhead wires.
The fallen poles and wires damaged more than a dozen vehicles. One driver was temporarily trapped when a live wire fell on their vehicle.
