Police: 7-year-old dead, 17-year-old brother injured in stabbing at Paterson home

Officers say police were called around 7 a.m. to a home at 96 North 6th St. in Paterson. They say when they arrived, they found the two brothers with stab wounds.

A stabbing in Paterson left a 7-year-old boy dead and a 17-year-old male injured inside a home, police say.
Officers say police were called around 7 a.m. to a home at 96 North 6th St. in Paterson. They say when they arrived, they found the two brothers with stab wounds.
Authorities say the boys were taken to the hospital. They say the 17-year-old boy was released, but the 7-year-old died from his wounds.
Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh says the incident was "an alarming act of violence that turned into an unspeakable tragedy.”
“We lost a 7-year-old young man. Just a poor victim of domestic violence, and mental health is just a real issue," he said.
Details surrounding the incident were not immediately available. Authorities say no charges have been filed yet.
