Two men are facing charges, accused of carjacking a person they knew while riding in his car early Sunday morning.
Police were called for reports of a carjacking on Interstate 195 at State Highway 34 in Wall Township. They say that three people were all riding in the same vehicle and were on their way to Asbury Park.
Officials say that the two passengers – 25-year-old Biagio Toto and 28-year-old Nicholas Grande – stole the car and left the victim on the side of the roadway.
“While this incident is very alarming, it is important that the public knows the three men involved knew each other and this wasn’t a random act of violence,” Chief Sean O’Halloran wrote in a statement.
Toto and Grande were eventually located and arrested.
Toto faces multiple charges, including carjacking and theft of a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
Grande was charged with receiving stolen property and some drug charges. He was released on a summons.
