Police at Rutgers-New Brunswick are investigating two attempted burglary incidents that happened inside the same residence hall early Saturday morning.
They happened inside Clothier Residence Hall on George Street, between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.
In the first incident, someone said they saw a suspect inside their dorm room while their roommate was sleeping. The suspect grabbed what was described as something valuable belonging to the roommate and attempted to leave the room with it. The item was returned when the person who called police said to put it back. Then the suspect left the area.
In the second incident, the victim awoke to the suspect in their dorm room placing items of value into a bag and attempting to leave with them. News 12 is told that that he suspect again returned the items when the victim requested them back. The perpetrator then left the area again.
The suspect is described by police as a male 18 to 24 years old and approximately 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was wearing gray jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black bandana at the time of the incident.
There were no injuries reported and no signs of forced entry.
