It will be smooth sailing weather-wise in New Jersey until July 4. This is when summery weather returns with a threat of afternoon and evening storms.

TONIGHT: Clear and comfortable, with lows in the 50s and 60s again.

WEDNESDAY: It will be the last day without humidity being an issue in the forecast. Temperatures will be seasonable in the mid-80s. As the day wears on, you'll notice it getting just a touch more humid.

It's not until Wednesday night that we see a more significant jump in the atmospheric moisture acting like that wet/warm uncomfortable blanket we'll be wearing on Thursday.

THURSDAY: Speaking of Thursday – it’s Independence Day! Early sunshine will give way to hazy skies by the mid-afternoon. I think by lunchtime New Jersey will be at 90 degrees. A heat Index will approach 99 by the end of the day.

The skies will be loaded with moisture, so when we do finally see some storms popping up, torrential downpours will be the biggest issue - along with lightning. It doesn't appear the majority of storms will be severe in nature with damaging winds and large hail. The situation later in the day will need to be watched.

FRIDAY/WEEKEND: From Friday through Saturday it will be hazy, hot and humid with afternoon storms popping off - some of which could be severe, especially on Saturday.

The second half of the weekend is still hot but less humid and hopefully, forecasting fingers crossed, storm-free.
