Many residents in Plainfield say they favor President Barack Obama?s plan for a year-round school calendar.
Obama announced that he is pushing for longer school days or school hours during the summer. Many parents agree that their children should remain in school for the summer to keep them occupied. Children are typically kept busy through summer vacations and day care.
A group of crossing guards said they would be willing to stay extra hours at night and during the evening rush if the plan went into effect.
