The pilot and crew of US Airways Flight 1549 received keys to New York City Monday to honor their heroic efforts.
The City Hall ceremony with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg capped off a weekend of interviews, including an appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Capt. Chesley Sullenberger landed the plane, carrying a total of 155 people, in the Hudson River after a flock of birds took out the plane's engines on Jan. 15. Bloomberg thanked the crew for sparing New York City and so many families from an awful tragedy. He called Sullenberger and his crew "five American heroes."
Sullenberger says a miracle was made possible by the crew's years of experience and training. The crew, in return, thanked Sullenberger for saving their lives.
