It may still be summer, but scarlet fever is alive and well in New Jersey after Rutgers' 38-3 rout of Buffalo.
The 16th-ranked Rutgers Scarlet Knights and head coach Greg Schiano hosted unranked Buffalo Thursday night in Piscataway for their season opener. The team's expectations of an easy win came true.
Students who graduated years ago were walking around campus with Rutgers football jerseys on to get ready for the game. Many were excited because the first five games to open the season are home games.
Many fans headed out early to tailgate and get ready for the game.
