A 3-year-old Lakewood girl was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Lakewood Thursday afternoon.

Police say that the girl was riding her bike near Seventh Street and Forest Avenue around 1 p.m. when she rode out into the road in front of a 40-year-old Lakewood man driving a 2007 Ford F550 truck. The girl apparently rode out into the street without warning and the driver was not able to stop.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. Police say that the driver did not appear to be distracted and also provided a blood sample to be tested.

The child’s name was not immediately released by police.
