A person was struck and killed by a car in Elizabeth on one of the deadliest stretches of road in the country.
Officials say the pedestrian was crossing the highway on Spring Street, across the Spring Lane Motel where they say it is prohibited. They say there's no crosswalk in this area.
Officials told News 12 New Jersey the driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged.

Fang Law Firm reported 16 pedestrians died on this road between 2000 and 2019. This is among the most fatal roads in the nation.
State police say 130 people have been killed by cars in New Jersey so far in 2023.
