As warmer weather arrives, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh is ramping up the "Keeping Paterson Clean" campaign with a high-impact seasonal initiative aimed at scrubbing the city's major gateways and neighborhoods.
The enhanced Clean Communities effort, officially announced this past Saturday, activates specialized "Quality of Life" teams to handle a surge in maintenance needs during the peak spring and summer months.
A primary focus of the activation is the deep cleaning of Paterson's 13 major entrance corridors. By prioritizing these high-traffic arteries, the city aims to improve the immediate perception of Paterson for residents and visitors alike.
"This targeted activation will deliver immediate, visible improvements," city officials stated, noting that the work is designed to address resident concerns in real time while reinforcing community pride.
Sponsored by Paterson Clean Communities and coordinated with the Department of Public Works (DPW), the program includes graffiti eradication, illegal dumping response, and intensive maintenance of areas that see increased foot traffic.
The city is encouraging residents to support the "Keeping Paterson Clean" messaging by utilizing proper disposal methods for bulk items and reporting illegal dumping via the city's service lines.
This initiative is expected to continue through the summer to ensure the city remains well-maintained during its busiest outdoor season.
