The shelter in place in Paterson has been lifted after a fire prompted a concern for “hazardous materials.”
A fire investigation at 198 Putnam St. forced parts of Paterson within a 1-mile radius of the area to be put under an emergency notice.
Officials tested the air quality and confirmed that nothing corrosive or hazardous is in the air, and no pollutants were detected.
Residents are still being asked to keep windows and doors closed.
