More than 100 teens took over a Home Depot parking lot in Passaic Sunday, but they weren't just hanging out.

The teenagers are members of the Passaic High School Marching Band and are going through intensive training for upcoming football games and their own competition season.

"This is like their varsity sport,? says Christopher Rusca, the band?s director.

After three years in the flute section, senior Gladys Paramo is this year's drum major. "This is my home away from home,? she says. ?I come here and get rid of troubles and it's my second family. I look forward to band camp every day."

Home Depot allowed the band to practice in the parking lot since there aren't many large fields in Passaic. The band trains almost 10 hours a day.

The Passaic band finished in third place in their national competition last year and its color guard came in first place.
