WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Measurable snow from a system Sunday night brings accumulations from a coating to up to 2 inches. Less expected coastally due to some mixing. The quick-moving snow system times out by 1 a.m. While this won't still be occurring during Monday morning rush hour, there could be slippery and messy conditions due to any accumulated snow that will melt and the possibility of an icy glaze to finish off the system. Allow ample time in the morning for slower moving traffic and slick conditions.
Temperatures approach 50 degrees Monday, so that snow will continue to melt throughout the day. Temperatures will be above freezing by early parts of the day, so it will be a great day for snow melting in general. Overnight temperatures into Tuesday will be above freezing as well so, as of Sunday night, there isn't major concern for refreezing aside from spots of elevation and the Northern parts of Litchfield county. Temperatures are on a downward slide through Wednesday, where the high is in the mid-30s. A temperature rebound back to the mid- to upper-40s is expected for Thursday and another downward trend for the rest of the week and sliding into the weekend. The next big chance of precipitation doesn't come until midweek. There is the chance to see a combination of rain, sleet, and snow late Wednesday into early Thursday.
FORECAST OVERNIGHT: Snow showers that taper off overnight. Low of 31. MONDAY: Partly sunny. High of 49, low of 37.
TUESDAY: Sun, clouds and gusty. High of 42, low of 25. WEDNESDAY: Clouds build with a chance of late afternoon/early evening precipitation. High of 35, low of 31.
