Members of the Bronx Muslim community were shocked and disappointed by Rep. Peter King's (R-Seaford) comments about the recent arrest of a Queens imam.
The Long Island congressman criticized New York's Muslim community for failing to cooperate with law enforcement after FBI terrorism-related raids in Queens last week. Members of the Parkchester Jame Masjid Mosque say King's remarks are unfounded and they have always helped authorities should problems arise.
The vice president of the mosque says he met last week with NYPD officials to discuss security. Members of the mosque said they wanted King to apologize, but a spokesperson from King's office says he "absolutely will not apologize."
