Parents are demanding answers Thursday after a Middletown school bus aide was accused of giving a teen a near-fatal dose of drugs.
The Middletown North High School student overdosed and nearly died Monday after ingesting a vial of liquid methadone. Police say 35-year-old Parrish Jones, a school bus aide from Keansburg, provided the 15-year-old with the drug. The interim superintendent says Jones doesn?t work for the district. However, Jones is employed by Milu Bus Service in Cliffwood, one of several companies the district hires for student transportation.
State law requires criminal background checks for everyone working with students. However, the state education department says it has no record of the name Parrish Jones ever being submitted. Jones is being held at the Monmouth County Jail on several felony counts including endangering the welfare of a child and distribution of a controlled substance while on a school bus.
