Pair of Rottweilers die after being left in hot truck in Neptune

Two Rottweiler dogs died yesterday from heat exhaustion after their owner left them in a pickup truck for more than an hour in the heat.
Monmouth County SPCA officials say the two dogs, Maximus and Joey, were left outside of MJ?s Pizza Bar and Grill in Neptune. Their owner, Charles Loguidice, of Freehold, was inside the restaurant.
Temperatures outside were nearing 90 degrees. Officials estimate that inside the truck, temperatures exceeded 100 degrees.
The dogs were found dead just after 5 p.m.
Loguidice was charged with two counts of animal cruelty and could face six months in prison for each charge. He also faces thousands of dollars in fines.
