An overnight fire displaced 24 residents from two buildings and sent a firefighter to the hospital in Paterson.

The fire tore through six apartments in a multi‑family building at the corner of Getty Avenue and Thomas Street.

Falling debris struck a Paterson firefighter as crews worked to control the flames. The firefighter was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center for treatment of a concussion and has since been released, according to fire officials.

Four residents in a neighboring home were displaced due to water damage in their building.

Officials have not released word on a cause or where the fire started.
