Olympic speed-skater Kristen Santos-Griswold paid her first visit to Fairfield Warde High School since graduating.
The hometown hero was recognized by First Selectperson Christine Vitale on Tuesday for her achievements and representation of the Fairfield community with a proclamation.
The Olympian also met with students to talk about her journey to the 2022 and 2026 Olympics.
"The most important thing is to find your own path. Find what works for you. Do what makes you happy. I think it's really easy to see things that other people are doing and feel like that's what you have to be doing as well,” said Santos-Griswold. "As long as you're doing what feels right for you, then you're doing the right thing."
Santos-Griswold has also competed in five World Championships and one World Junior Championship.
