The New Jersey Forest Fire Service responded Saturday morning to an active wildfire off Route 539 in Bass River State Forest in Little Egg Harbor Township.
Crews were still trying to bring it under control as of Saturday night.
In a Facebook post, the Tuckerton Fire Department said water tankers from Warren Grove, Parkertown and Eagleswood were dispatched to the scene.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service also reminded residents not to fly drones in fire zones as that will interfere with aerial efforts to extinguish the fire.
The fire was said to be about 60% contained and had impacted about 1,600 acres as of Saturday night.
While many parts of New Jersey received rain on Saturday, this area did not.
