Middlesex County prosecutors say they are investigating a police-involved shooting in Monroe Township.
A source tells News 12 New Jersey that someone called 911 to say a family member, later identified as 69-year-old Ronald Richards, was distraught. Responding officers say they saw that Richards had a gun and told him to put it down. When he didn't put the weapon down, an officer fired. The home that the Richards was shot outside of has been identified as his daughter's.
He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, where he's listed in serious condition. Richards' lawyer says Richards was supposed to go to Sloan Kettering Friday to receive treatment for cancer.
