On the last day of school, Clifton police gave her a police escort to the intersection where she has served the community for more than half a century.
In addition, Beissell was overcome with emotion when she learned the city will install a commemorative street sign in her honor.
Police officers describe her as the epitome of a team player, a dedicated public servant whose unwavering commitment never wavered.
Over 51 years, Beissell helped tens of thousands of children safely cross the street, becoming a trusted and beloved fixture in the Clifton community.
Now, the crossing guard who spent a lifetime helping others safely navigate the road is hanging up her stop sign, leaving behind a legacy.
