A Galloway Township man has been indicted for attempted murder after prosecutors say he attacked a police officer with a knife in April.
Police say the incident began when officers responded to a home on Cresson Avenue following several dropped 911 calls.
Upon arrival, 31-year-old Keith Kiminski came out of the house with a serrated knife and slashed one of the officers in the cheek.
The cut was so severe that it exposed the officer’s teeth and mouth. Authorities say he had to undergo emergency surgery to treat his injuries.
The suspect was arrested after several minutes of resisting and refusing to drop the knife.
Other officers were also injured during the struggle, according to police.
Kiminsky was taken into custody on Wednesday and is being held at the Atlantic County Jail.
