Over a dozen Montclair State University students were sent home to quarantine after they were seen attending an off-campus party without masks or social distancing.
The 13 students were suspended from campus housing after attending the party. University officials say that there were photographs to prove the students attended the party. They must quarantine for two weeks.
“We knew that we were bringing students back in the middle of this situation. We have done everything we possibly could to educate students and make sure they understand the rules,” says Dr. Karen Pennington, vice president of student development and campus life. “We also recognize that new students will come and test the boundaries. These students have tested them and we’ve proven to them that this is not a test they want to take.”
Pennington says that most of those students are freshmen and that some have apologized for their actions.
The students are not exempt from classes during their housing suspension.
