A Teaneck college student is facing a slew of charges for an alleged crime spree that spanned four locations in only minutes.
Attempted sexual assault, assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and drug possession are only a few of the charges Ali Alasmari faces.
The crime spree allegedly began when Asmari, a Farleigh Dickinson student from Saudi Arabia, got off a bus on Garibaldi Avenue and attempted to sexually assault a woman. Witnesses chased Alasmari, but when the suspect saw how outnumbered he was, the crimes escalated.
Police say Alasmari then ran to a nearby BP station and carjacked a driver getting gas. The stolen car was driven a few blocks before crashing at Main and Trudy. Alasmari then allegedly attempted a second carjacking.
A Hasbrough Heights officer was able to catch and arrest Alasmari, but the charges didn?t end with him being brought into custody. At headquarters, Alasmari allegedly kicked the arresting officer in the genitals.
Authorities say Alasmari had a small amount of marijuana on his possession, but did not seem under the influence. He is locked up on $750,000 bail.
