A milestone in COVID-19
vaccines was reached last week in Ocean County, as the health department announced they have now
surpassed 100,000 vaccine doses to people in the county.
According to the health department, the number of positive cases
reported on Sunday also plummeted to just 29.
When combined with public and private entities, the health department says vaccinations
in the county have surpassed 400,000. Close to 200,000 people are fully vaccinated.
Daily figures have been at or below the 100-case mark now for several
weeks. The 29 cases reported Sunday marks one of the lowest seen in
months.
The decrease in case totals
come as restrictions continue to be lifted. Restaurants over the weekend were packed
with moms and families as people are ready to return to normalcy.
Vaccines are still available and walk in options at the county-run sites
are open.
