The Route 70 flea market in Lakewood, a landmark which stood the test of time for the last 40 years, held its final day of sales Sunday.

Flea market owners Adam Reynolds and Reece McCabe told News 12 months ago they knew the end was near when their lease would not be renewed for the 2020 season, and Sunday -- they held an emotional sendoff.
The lot was packed with buyers, and the aisles were filled with sellers under the unseasonably warm late December conditions.
The flea market has been in Adam's family for 40 years. It began with just a few tables and grew to an every weekend, year-round business – but over the last few years, interested developers took notice of the land, one of the few open areas left in rapidly-developing Lakewood, and a deal was reached.
According to the developers, the project will include 166 townhouses with basement apartments, as well as retail and community space.
The flea market owners tell News 12 they are searching for areas to continue the tradition, and say the sale of the land was out of their control.
